This is more of a recipe than a pattern and is easily adjusted to any size you wish! This "pattern" can be used to make dishcloths, washcloths, dish or facial scrubbies, placemats, table runners, afghans, blankets, or scarves - just change the width and length to create your project!
This project was created with half-double crochet but this recipe can be followed using single crochet, double crochet or your favorite stitch!

Supplies:
Size I hook
Worsted weight cotton yarn
I used Lily Sugar n Cream in Mistletoe and Bernat Handicrafter in Red Liqorice
Size:
Finished cloths measure approximately 7 1/2" to 8"across
Pattern:
Chain until you have the desired length* for your washcloth, then chain 1 more, turn
Row 1 - hdc in 2nd chain from hook and each chain across, chain 1, turn
Row 2 - hdc in each stitch across, ch 1, turn
Repeat row 2 until the cloth is as tall as it is wide, or until desired length.
Finish off
*Note:
Different yarns work up differently.
For the red dishcloth I chained 21 stitches and then worked 20 hdc across each row. The red dishcloth measures almost 8".
For the varigated dishcloth I chained 22 stitches and then worked 21 hdc across each row. The varigated dishcloth measures 7 1/2".
It's a dishcloth so I don't worry too much over the finished size!
